Searching for Purpose and Meaning
I consider myself a guide walking alongside you in your journey. I do not see those who I help as sick but rather stuck. I truly believe that we all navigate life to the best of our abilities and, oftentimes, in the circumstances we did not choose to be in. We are all very adaptive and resilient - we quickly will find a way to protect ourselves from pain. However, we often continue to use old strategies and ways of moving through life that are no longer serving us in the same way they did before. This is where we oftentimes feel stuck.
I see therapy has helping us deeply and compassionately understand how you have evolved throughout your life. With this understanding, we can collaborate on how you can make meaningful changes in an effort for you to live a life of purpose while getting your emotional needs met in a healthy way. I believe relationships to be immensely impactful and our work will likely explore interpersonal dynamics to help you better relate and more genuinely connect with others. We have all been hurt in relationships throughout our lives and we typically develop a pattern of defending against being hurt again while simultaneously attempting to connect with others. Needless to say, it can get messy and we can sometimes find ourselves feeling misunderstood, confused, and lonely despite people being around us.
Additionally, our relationship with ourselves is the most important relationship we will have in our lives. Developing secure and loving relationships with others and within one’s self, in my opinion, is the best medicine.
I primarily practice from a Psychodynamic perspective while integrating and being informed by other modalities and approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychoanalysis, Transpersonal Psychology, and Internal Family Systems. I always strive to take cultural and societal factors into consideration by taking time to deeply understand an individual's intersection of identities and their lived experience in the current sociopolitical system.
