Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect from individual therapy?
I consider therapy to be a very collaborative process in which you and I work together within our therapeutic relationship to help you deepen your understanding of yourself, learn new ways of navigating stressors, and gain clarity about your unique needs and values. I balance exploring your past, present, and future in an effort to develop a comprehensive picture for both of us to understand your life. I encourage self-reflection and self-compassion as I believe the relationship with yourself is the foundation for all other relationships in your life. I create a space for you to feel safe to process difficult emotional experiences and assist in helping you ground yourself if you are feeling overwhelmed. I sincerely see my role as helping you help yourself - I firmly believe we all have an innate capacity to heal ourselves and I hope to help you discover this.
How long will it take for me to feel better?
Many clients report feeling more hopeful and begin noticing a reduction of distress within a few sessions. I try to create a dynamic in which we can regularly check-in with one another about your progress. I value your feedback immensely and I consider myself a rather flexible clinician - I can make changes to your treatment as needed but only if I am made aware of your genuine experience. Please let me know if you are not noticing benefits or getting your needs met as soon as possible in our work together.
It is not uncommon for clients to notice an alleviation of symptoms such as anxiety or depressed mood in a short-amount of time working together. I see significant growth and healing possible and with such large changes, more time in therapy may be needed. Long-term change will often need a longer term therapeutic approach. I will remain open about my therapeutic process with you and would be happy to let you know how I am understanding the length of our work. I see great value in discussing our thoughts, feelings, and understandings about the work we are embarking on together.
Are you seeing clients via telehealth or in-person?
I am currently offering both telehealth (video) and in-person appointments. I offer video appointments on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and in-person appointments on Thursdays and Fridays at my office in Seatac, WA.
If you are interested in working together, please indicate in your inquiry your preference for in-person or video therapy and I will do my best to accommodate.
What are your rates?
Please see my Services page for information on the services that I provide. My current out-of-pocket rate for a first appointment intake (90 minutes) is $250 and a one hour therapy appointment is $200. If you are using insurance, the cost to you will depend on your plan (i.e. deductible, co-pay, etc.) I do have opportunities to offer a sliding scale rate and we can discuss this further during our consultation.
Do you take insurance?
I currently accept most major health insurance plans. Please indicated when you reach out if you would like to use insurance and what plan you have. If you have a plan that I do not accept, I would be considered an out-of-network provider, I can provide documentation of our work in the form of a ‘Superbill,’ which you can share with your insurance company for reimbursement. The amount you will receive back from insurance will depend on your individual plan. If you are interested in working with me out-of-network, I would recommend contacting your insurance company ahead of time to see how they reimburse for out-of-network therapy.
I am more than happy to provide a Superbill and whatever support I can accommodate in helping you with the reimbursement process.
How do we get started?
